Overview
The P visa categories are for internationally recognized athletes and entertainers coming to perform in the United States. The P-1 covers internationally recognized athletes (individually or as part of a team) and members of internationally recognized entertainment groups; the P-2 covers performers in reciprocal exchange programs; and the P-3 covers artists or entertainers in culturally unique programs.
Key requirements
Eligibility depends on the specific P category but generally requires evidence of international recognition or a culturally unique skill, an itinerary or events, and, in most cases, a consultation/advisory opinion from an appropriate labor organization. Essential support personnel may also qualify under a related classification.
How Do Law can help
We determine the correct P subcategory, assemble the evidence of recognition or cultural significance, secure required consultations, and prepare petitions for athletes, teams, performers, groups, and their essential support staff.
