Overview
The EB-1A category is a first-preference employment-based green card for individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics. One of its major advantages is that it does not require a job offer or labor certification (PERM), and the applicant may self-petition.
What you must show
Applicants demonstrate extraordinary ability either by a one-time major international achievement (such as a Nobel Prize) or by meeting at least three of the regulatory criteria — for example, major awards, membership in distinguished associations, published material about the applicant, original contributions of major significance, scholarly articles, or commanding a high salary. The petition must show sustained national or international acclaim.
